My childhood’s favorite turtle is back (and in 3D!) and this time he brought his groovy Aunt T (also in 3D!) to the mobile party, with Franklin’s Bubble Blaster. The only problem is, Aunt T’s bubble machine went off the rails and now bubbles are coming out of everywhere. It turns out that turtles aren’t big fans of bubble parties, so it’s your job to pop the bubbles before they cause a sticky mess to the (wait for it…) Messy Make-It Shop. If that wasn’t enough, this magical bubble machine doesn’t just release regular-everyday bubbles, but bubbles filled with snow (freezes other bubbles), music notes (Aunt T’s one step away from Dancing with the Stars), a honey blueberry bar (because bubble popping can create quite the appetite), and about 22 other pretty random things that are all Franklin-rific! Aunt T even reacts to just about every bubble pop in her own unique, hippie style – shouting encouragement and one-liners that made me smile even as I was popping bubbles with prizes floating inside.
The game itself is incredibly simple (see the bubble – pop the bubble), yet strangely addictive to the point where I actually found myself having a BLAST (too much?)! To win, all you have to do is make sure that the bubble meter doesn’t fill up before the time expires. The levels progressed slowly at first, presumably so kids can get a hang out the whole popping thing, but as you advance the bubbles come faster and faster until all your fingers are popping bubbles while Aunt T busts a move in the corner. Franklin’s Bubble Blaster has an unlimited number of levels to play which is great for a parent looking to keep their child entertained or for big kids (aka adults that take offense to being called adults) like myself, that really have more time on their hands than they should. Not to brag or anything, but I’m now the proud owner of five Franklin wallpapers and a level 68 graduate.
For $0.99, I would almost feel bad about taking advantage of Franklin’s kindness, if I wasn’t helping him out with his big bubble problem. All jokes aside, Franklin’s Bubble Blaster really is great game for any kid looking for a quick fun game that is filled with all the goodness that I remember about Franklin (did I mention he’s now in 3D?) or even adults that want to take a walk down memory lane (and challenge my level 68 domination). I highly recommend giving the app a try or you’ll burst my bubble (last lame bubble joke I promise). Now head over to iTunes and get popping!
